The best place to buy felting wool in Paris: Pain d’Épices
I have been looking for a good place to buy felting wool in Paris, and came across this treasure trove of a shop, Pain d’Épices.
This toy shop is located in a quaint little passageway filled with cute little cafés and shops selling stamps, old books and jewellry. Pain d’Épices fits right in with this old-fashioned feel, and is full to the brim with all sorts of interesting toys, games, dolls house miniatures and craft equipment.
The ground floor is about half toys and half miniatures. There is also a small stationary section, selling greetings cards, old fashioned labels and retro school supplies. It is a fantastic mix of quaint and old-fashioned and quality modern items.
Upstairs is a large variety of boxed games and crafty kits for kids. There are even a few clothes and dressing-up costumes. Also up on the top level is what I came for: the small (compared with the rest of the shop), but still more than adequate, felting section.
They have everything I could possibly need for my – still rather small scale – felting career: felting needles, wool in every colour you could think of, felting kits, multi packs of felting wool, soap, and loads of other equipment – some that I couldn’t even tell you what for.
Here is a photo of a second pair of slippers that I made with the wool that I bought at Pain d’Épices. You can read all about how to make your own hand felted slippers here!
If you want to try your hand at needle felting, or are looking for a crafty gift for someone creative for Christmas, check out their selection of kits containing everything you need to get started. I love this little mouse with his balloon, who you can also find pirouetting in the window display!
As I move on to some other felting projects, I will definitely be shopping for my supplies here. You can buy the wool online from them, but you would really be missing out. Pain d’Épices is surely one of the most exciting place to buy felting wool in Paris!
