After sharing with you a few weeks ago how to make your own fimo wax seal stamp, I want to tell you a bit more about the shop L’Ecritoire, which could be the best stationery shop in Paris!

Located in central Paris, near Chatelet, Hotel de Ville, Les Halles and just a minutes walk from the Pompidou centre, L’Écritoire is a tiny cave of wonders full of all kinds of stationery and letter writing goodies.

It sells all kinds of original greetings and postcards, note books, sketchbooks and pens. Some of its specialities are traditional dip nib ink pens (and ink), wax seal stamps (and sealing wax), and beautiful envelopes and pencil cases.

L’Écritoire is a family run business, open since 1975, and has a preference for traditional, locally made products. Many of their items are hand made in France using traditional techniques. You can even buy a wax seal stamp of the Paris coat of arms, or of the Eiffel tower.

The shop, though small has an large amount of character, and charm. The objects it sells are clearly well chosen and are all beautiful and original. For those who love stationery, and traditional letter writing methods, this shop is an amazing place to visit. Its location, and the many original greetings cards and Paris related stationery also make it a great place for tourists to the city to drop in, looking for a postcard or a souvenir of their visit.

I came here interested in the sealing wax and stamps, but there were so many things here that caught my eye. I couldn’t resist the envelopes, handmade in many different colours and types of paper. They come in many different interesting shapes: rectangular, triangular, hexagonal… with stickers to seal them closed.
