Make your own recycled notebooks out of scrap A4 printer paper

I ran a workshop last weekend at the Maker Fair Paris to make these recycled notebooks. They are made using recycled printer paper that has only been printed on one side. The paper is folded with the blank side on the outside and bound together using a Japanese stab binding technique.  You can download the instruction sheet (it’s only in French for the moment, sorry!) or follow the tutorial below.

Plantable paper made with flower seeds and recycled paper

Ever tried to make your own paper? To celebrate this spring, I decided to have a go at making my own plantable paper, which is just handmade, recycled paper with seeds inside, so you can plant it ! This plantable paper is ideal for sending someone a little note, letter or postcard, with a little extra touch – the gift of flowers.

Recycling toilet rolls

Following on from the cardboard theme, after making a cardboard lamp at l’École du Carton, I wanted to try making something out of recycled toilet rolls. These beautiful toilet roll letters are using nothing but recycled cardboard and the cardboard tubes from inside toilet rolls.

Last weekend, I did a workshop with L’École du Carton to learn how to make a cardboard lamp. The workshop was great fun, and I really enjoyed the abstract painting techniques we used to paint the lampshades. I even used some of the techniques I learnt to make a cardboard lampshade for my bedroom at home.

Make this fimo wax seal stamp to finish your letters with your own personalised seal

I’m really excited to show you how I made my own fimo wax seal stamp. I love the extra touch this kind of wax seal gives to a sealed envelope, so I decided to make my own out of fimo, a polymer clay that you can mould, then fire in an oven to harden.
